For more than 170 years, Northern Children's Services has believed that every child deserves the opportunity to thrive.

Today, that mission is more important than ever.

Every day, children and families across Philadelphia face challenges that can seem overwhelming—from trauma and mental health needs to housing instability, food insecurity, and the lasting effects of community violence and poverty. At Northern, we meet them where they are with compassionate, evidence-based services that help them heal, grow, and build brighter futures.

Your generosity makes that possible.

Gifts to Northern support an integrated network of programs that includes:

  • Community behavioral health services that help children and youth build resilience and emotional well-being.
  • Foster care, adoption, and permanency services that help children find safe, loving, and stable families.
  • Residential and transitional housing programs that support young parents and youth as they build independent, successful lives.
  • Violence prevention and youth leadership programs that empower young people with the skills and confidence to create positive change.
  • Our community food pantry and commercial teaching kitchen (new!), which help families access nutritious food while building lifelong skills in meal planning, budgeting, and healthy cooking.

Last year alone, Northern served more than 2,000 children, youth, and family members through these life-changing programs. We also expanded opportunities for families through our growing community pantry, completed our new commercial kitchen renovation, strengthened our behavioral health services, and continued investing in innovative programs that address the whole family's needs.
